ABOUT SOUTHERN COMPANY
The Southern Company (SO) is an electricity producer and distributor based in Atlanta that constructs, acquires, owns and manages assets and sells electricity in the wholesale market for industry, homes and electric vehicles.
It operates through subsidiaries including Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power, and Mississippi Power.
It serves approximately nine million energy customers and has a 44,000 MW generating capacity. The company has 31,000 employees, $23.40 billion in operating revenue for the year 2018 and a $65.9 billion market capitalization as of February 2020.
